An investigation of mitigating the safety and security risks allied with oil and gas pipeline projects

Oil and Gas Pipeline (OGP) projects face a wide range of safety security Risk Factors (RFs) globally, particularly in the oil gas producing countries having insecure environment poor records. Inadequate information about causes pipeline failures knowledge OGP hinder efforts mitigating such risks. This paper, therefore, aims to develop risk management system that is based on holistic approach identifying, analysing ranking associated RFs, evaluating possible Mitigation Methods (RMMs), which are first steps this approach. A qualitative document analysis was adopted design semi-structured industry-wide questionnaire, conducted collect stakeholders’ perceptions existing RFs RMMs for Iraq.
